TeraFlex product sales have always been strong, but we wanted to take it to the next level. As electronic data became more important and critical, we realized that we needed help with the massive task of gathering and sorting this information. But where do we start? What data is required? What is optional? What is relevant? Enter SEMA and the Data Co-Op.
TeraFlex became aware of the SEMA Data Co-Op (SDC) in the summer of 2012 when it was still in the Beta phase, and later met with the SDC staff at the 2012 SEMA Show. The benefits of the SDC immediately became apparent with their extremely helpful approach to undertaking such a large task. Being Jeep Wrangler specialists, we knew very little about current data standards, PIES format, vehicle application smart sheets and proper validation. It did not matter! The SDC literally takes whatever data you currently have, and works with you to fill in the mandatory information along with any additional information that you can provide. They made this process so absolutely seamless for us it was unreal. Along the way however, we did discover several holes in our data, and made several updates to our internal system to correlate and synchronize the information that these industry standards require. It was well worth the time and investment to get our internal data as complete as possible. We now have an operating procedure when entering all new products, and price increases that will help streamline updates to the SDC.
If you are a manufacturer (supplier) and are considering joining the SDC, don’t delay! Do it now and take advantage of their expert services. If you are a retailer (receiver) get an account setup and use their massive repository of data to make your system complete and increase sales!
The SEMA Data Co-Op staff was an absolutely integral and priceless resource in our data transition into full validation with PIES and ACES standards. There is no way that we could have done it without them.
